The Astounding Beneficent Astro-Badgerini’s Tarot Table

Honey Badger shuffles a 78-card tarot-style deck and deals a three-card story: what you bring, what is in focus, and a possible next step. Each card gets a plain-language reading, then the Astounding Beneficent Astro-Badgerini ties the spread together.

The deck is shuffled by your browser and the cards are selected pseudorandomly. Tarot meanings vary by reader and deck. This playful reading is for reflection and entertainment, not a guaranteed prediction.

What this comparison covers

This first version compares Western tropical Sun sign, an approximate Vedic sidereal Sun sign, Thai weekday astrology, Chinese zodiac year, and numerology. These are different systems with different rules; the shared-theme section is a comparison of symbolic descriptions, not a statistical test.

It does not calculate a full natal chart, rising sign, Moon sign, houses, planetary aspects, a complete Jyotish chart, or BaZi Four Pillars. Those readings need accurate birth time, location, timezone, and dedicated astronomical/calendar calculations. Chinese zodiac results near Lunar New Year may need checking against that year’s exact date.

Astrology and numerology are spiritual or cultural interpretive practices, not scientifically established methods for predicting personality or events. A shared theme does not show that a birth date caused that trait or event.

Vedic astrology (Jyotisha)

Common methods use the sidereal zodiac; Jyotisha also includes lunar mansions and distinct timing techniques. This page estimates only the sidereal Sun sign.

How popular are these practices?

Popularity varies by country and by practice, and there is no single reliable global ranking comparing Western, Vedic, Thai, and Chinese astrology. As one U.S. benchmark, Pew Research Center reported that 30% of U.S. adults consulted astrology, tarot cards, or fortune tellers at least once a year; the survey combined those practices and did not compare astrology traditions.

For cultural context, the Thailand Foundation describes fortune-telling as a popular Thai tradition and discusses the country’s mix of influences. Neither source provides a head-to-head popularity ranking of the methods on this page.

Could a data study compare predictive accuracy?

Yes, in principle—but this calculator does not run that study. Its results are broad symbolic descriptions, not predictions scored against observed outcomes. To compare methods fairly, each tradition would need to make the same clearly defined prediction before the outcome is known.

  1. Choose measurable outcomes. Define the target and time window in advance—for example, a validated personality scale or a specific event outcome. Avoid vague descriptions that can be reinterpreted after the fact.
  2. Predefine each method. Record the exact chart inputs, rules, and prediction for every system before outcome data are revealed. Use the same participants and scoring rules across methods.
  3. Compare with baselines. Test each astrological method against a simple chance or base-rate prediction and a regression model using relevant non-astrological variables. Regression can test whether birth-chart features add predictive information after those variables are considered.
  4. Test on unseen data. Keep a test sample untouched while building or tuning models. Report out-of-sample accuracy, uncertainty intervals, and model fit diagnostics; an in-sample fit or high R-squared alone is not enough.
  5. Separate prediction from causation. A reproducible association or improved forecast would not by itself show that celestial positions caused an outcome. Causal claims need a separate design and evidence supporting the causal assumptions.

A credible study would also preregister its hypotheses, account for multiple comparisons, disclose missing data and exclusions, and protect participants’ birth and outcome data. No such participant dataset is collected by this page.
